I MISSED the MPPP X-Jam 2007

March 19th, 2007

I did not have the oportunity to go grab photos of the recent MPPP X-Jam in Penang. Nor did I get the chance to go watch. Plus my moms’ DSLR ‘terrosak’. The pin for the CF card bengkok(bend). So I stayed home. I heard it was a blast!

Shah Alam Skatepark!

March 15th, 2007

Well, I have been to many-many skateparks around Malaysia thanks to my mom and dad. They are Temerloh, Taiping, Kampar, Ipoh, Gong Badak, Mont Kiara, MPPJ, Kampung Batu Metropotitan and recently Shah Alam.

But I HAVE to say that Shah Alam MBSA Extreme Skatepark ‘IS THE BEST THERE EVER IS!!!’ in Malaysia that is. Fuuuuuhhh….I can’t explain the feeling of the concrete’s ‘curves’ beneath my skateboard… The feeling is sureal I’ll tell ya’. The park is unlike ANY OTHER built is Malaysia by our Ministers Kementerian Sukan and whatnot… Concrete parks will last till your cucu-cucit’s punya cucu-cicit era I kid you not.

Back to the park, there is plenty of terrain to fill all your skating needs. There is going a ’street plaza’ built I think. The pools had the best of me… Rounded transition is nothing like regular Quarter Pipes transition. I just could not bring myself to even to ollies and such when I could be carving instead.

The park have a Clover bowl, a kidney, snake run, double mini pool, plenty of ledges and rail of all sorts of shape, height and size, pole jam, stairs and many more to be built!!!

My experience

I got to meet my idols

March 12th, 2007

As you might know, I went for the Together Gather Bloggers party on Friday. I skipped a day of school just for that……and Shah Alam. But Shah Alam aside, the party was great. The was lots of fun stuff there.

But the thing I can’t forget is meeting Ah Pek PD and Wingz from Rojakz. Ah Pek drove all the way from Port Dickson(PD) just to support Wingz and his team’s effort put into suceeding this wonderful event.

This was also the first time Ah Pek met Wingz and vise versa. Matthew hitched a ride with us from Penang to KL for the party. His trip was really worth it because he won an iPod Shuffle with his SMS-ing skills.

I got to be in a photo along with Wingz and Ah Pek.

Nah, here it is.

The one sitting down is Ah Pek, resting his hand on Ah Pek shoulder is Wingz and Matthew is on the left and I’m on the right.

What else to say…Oh ya, I got a skateboard deck from one of my mom’s friend which so happens to be the wife of the manager of Plastics. I bought a pair of shoes from Plastics in the afternoon before the party. Should have known earlier, tambah discount…hahaha.

I am with Shaolin Tiger in this photo. He is one heck of a tall, big guy…I’m like half his height.

Secara keseluruhan, parti tersebut adalah satu kejayaan yang besar…

My first vert…

February 22nd, 2007

I finally dropped in on my very first, vert ramp

Skating the Taman Batu Metropolitan that is in KL, 4 hours away from home. Listening to the sound of urethane and concrete. Then, my past fear came to mind…’The Halfpipe’! I have told myself a few time to just drop that damn thing, but have been defeated by fear for the last couple of trips…’Don’t go home until you’ve dropped it’. That is what I reminded myself. Worked myself up the cold metal stairs, the stairs of truth…

Sat on top of the halfpipe on a cool, breezy morning, putting on my paddings and a helmet. A few folks around doing their routine morning exercise. With all pads on and adrenalin coarsing through my blood, I glanced at my surrounding, listening to the early birds music trying to calm myself. Stood up, laid my tail on the coping, tell myself, ‘this is it’…Next thing I know, I am on the other top side of the halfpipe. Standing there, grinning like I can’t explain what…

Proceeded to drop from one side of the half pipe to another, proud of my own personal achievement…Then it started drizzling…As if the clouds waited for me to prove to myself that it was nothing.

I ended the session and my dad drove us back to our hotel. I stared at the beautiful reflection that was painted on the lake not far away by the sun. As it slowly disappears in the distance, I planned my next target…The halfpipe in Mont Kiara, a real competition sized halfpipe. Also wishing to add the BS air and FS air to my small bucket of tricks…tips anyone?

Confirmed

February 1st, 2007

There is going to be a real World Class Skatepark in Shah Alam. I have seen the photos and have been dreaming about skating it. The skatepark is located in the same block of land as the Shah Alam Stadium. There is also going to be an off-road bike track, rock climbing obstacles and fast food restaurants located nearby.

This is going to be so GREAT. Scheduled to be open early February. But they gave a time window until late February to early March just in case of delays from rains and such. Peoples have already skated it in its early stage and have said it WILL BE THE BEST! Over-vert, pools, bowls, pipes, whgat more could I ask for?

It is my dream park if you haven’t noticed. I absolutely love transitions and CONCRETE!!!! Woohoo! I literally grew onto skateboarding in a cheap ass designed ‘World Class Skatepark’ in Penang. So concrete is my forte, my surface-to-go. I’m real comfortable on it and have dailed my deck to response on concrete. I nearly killed myself in Kiara and have got my Rockets wet.

Another good point of this park is that the drainage is really good as I have heard. It rained and dryed up soon enough. Kiara actually had some pools of water inside although it is shaded. I wish I can live in Shah Alam. You lucky Shah Alamnites.

WHEN CAN I SKATE IT?!?!?!

Poker

January 5th, 2007

You know, I can play the mahjong since I was about 8 years old. There was once when my grandma died and all the families stayed in my house for one whole week.  We had such a fun time playing mahjong, cards including poker and gin rummy, night after night.

My eldest uncle, who is a headmaster was speechless!  Hehehe.  But my second and third uncles were so pleased to have me and my older brother to play along with them.  My parents are cool about us gambling during Chinese New Years or occassions like grandma’s funeral wake.  Anyway, she was already way past 80 years old so it was more a celebration of her life, mom said.
My dad said learning to play with mahjong and cards is a good way to sharpen the mind.  He taught us all the tricks and tips.  Plus, we also learn how to count.  We are learning maths, right?  Good lesson, right?  Of course, dad doesn’t allow us to gamble with real money now but only with chips and maybe in cents.  Still it is fun to play cards.
