Where to buy skateboards

Definitely not from toys stores and supermarkets. Those are for kids. Like my little brother. The skateboard is not built properly and is made from cheap wood.

I bought my first skateboard from a Toys R’ Us retail store and it performed badly. You can’t go fast on it because the wheel is made from rubber and not pure urethane like real wheels uses. (more about wheels and stuffs next time)

Then, I heard from my classmate about Climax which sells real skateboards. I bought a complete set for less than RM200. After that, I bought more skateboards from Cool Element (and gave my old one to my cousin).

Climax is in Komtar, Penang. Level Three, old section. Near the Cyber Library. Check out their website here.

Cool Element is in Bukit Bintang Plaza. Level Two. You go to Metrojaya, toys section, go out of the Metrojaya toys section door look to your left and you can see Cool Element.

If you cannot afford a new one, you can try buying a second hand one. They are sometimes for sale on the skate forum or at a skate shop.Look at the condition of the deck. Is it water logged? Try knocking on it like a door. You should know what it should sound like. Has it split between the plies? Is there and pressure cracks on the deck. For the trucks, look at the condition also and for wheels is there chunks of it missing? Is there a flat spot on it instead of a smooth circle? And  lastly for bearings try spinning it with your fingers. It it rough or a smooth feeling.
